Default Rear Air Resistor Pack - Any cheap fix out there?

My rear blower only comes on when the fan is set to high. So, I'm thinking I need a new resistor pack for the rear fan. The problem is they look crazy expensive ($238 at 928intl,or $75 used).

Anyone discover an alternative? If not, my son is just going to have to ride around with frozen nose hairs.

Oh, and where is the pack? Is it under the fan?

Thanks,
Matt

Its on the side of the rear AC unit. I'd take it out and take a look at it - see if you can repair it. It has a series integrated normally closed thermal protection device (thermal switch - like the later front resistor packs) . Speed switching is like for the front - except that 0 is a real off mode (rather than just really slow) Speed III is direct drive from the switch.

Its possible its a connection issue too - it would behave this way if the connector had fallan off the resistor pack - so check for that.

Its possible you could replace the thermal switch inexpensively if its permanently OC - but I have no idea what the spec for it is...

Thanks, Alan. Hopefully it is a connection issue or something a good cleaning can resolve.
