I stopped visiting the local Porsche dealer before I even bought my shark. When trying to set up a PPI, they told me to "try calling again in about two weeks". Yeah, right.

Experiences with local mechanics haven't been good either. I've consistently had idiots or thieves tell me that my car needed more work than it did.

Between the behavior of the P-dealer and the local wrench, they turned someone who never worked on a car (and would have paid $$ to get things done) into a non-profit-generating-do-it-himselfer. I guess they must have enough business already.....but I do my best to convert as many more owners into wrenchers as I can.

So now I do my own wrenching, frequently with other Rennlisters for larger projects. Having the manuals is a good (necessary?) thing, but without RENNLIST, and the good people here, ownership would be a lot more difficult and a lot less fun.

Cool

Big Dave:
We should start a club. You haven't suffered until you have owned a Porsche, especially a new one, in Hawaii. First the manuals, then the investment in tools. Then give up Saturday nights that blend into Sunday morning. Finally, buying a second car. All in the name of self defense. But at least the weather is good most of the time there....so the garage door can remain open while working on the car all night while everyone else is playing.
