Rob, owning a 928 is like being married. For better for worse. And just like any marriage you have to find time for each other. LOL
I completely understand not having the time. I go months without even cracking open the door on my 928 and then I go over to Rogers, get inspired drive the hell out of it, put it up wet and then get back into the daily grind of work.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone, it really is a beautiful car that will make the new owner very happy.

It's more than just the driving time I am not getting. I bought the car knowing I'd also have to (and want to) work on it a bit, just as you would any older car. I think not having the time for this is more bothersome. When the clutch pack needed replacing this summer I brought it to the shop instead of doing it myself. I never got around to doing the seat bolster or replacing the shocks.

It's time to simplify life a bit and clear my guilty conscious. I'll buy another GT type car to replace it, but something newer that I don't have to touch. I also intend to sell the Factory Five Cobra race car. This will allow me to concentrate on maintaining and racing the 911. I hope to compete in a minimum of 6 race weekends next year, so with the required upkeep and that job thing I have to everyday, that should keep me busy!

I remember the first time I saw that car/color, and it has the same impact on me now as then: simply beautiful! If I didn't own two 928's, I'd buy it without a doubt.

The two best colors on a 928 for me are this one, and Iris Blue.

Good luck with the sale!

Sounds like what I did a few years ago, but I wasn't smart and got rid of *all* of my garage cars, just keeping something new that needed nothing. And no inspiration to modify it at all. Now I'm back in a 928 that while excellent, still allows me to get my garage time. I'm much happier now. Whatever you do, keep a garage car no matter what.

Rob,

I totally understand the not having time for the car thing. Me and the SilverBulit come to mind! If I did not just pull the trigger on the GTS, I would have grabbed your car in a Heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't get a good enough offer and/or decide to wait, I'll be back from Baghdad in about a month. This is exactly what I've been shopping for.

Rob's car is really clean--a known quantity.

the Cal car claims a few more miles, but not known quantity.

what a difference for possibly very similar cars-----

This post has NO PLACE on this thread, IMO. (Price deleted out of respect for Rob's car)

my comments on this were not meant to criticize Rob's car (yes, it's a great car), or to boost an unknown GT from "out there" (thanks to Motts for enlightening us to it's detractions).

If anyone thinks they were out of place, it helps to have all the information when making comparisons.....I did not have a lot to go by, only what the market had seen over the last two years........

yes, I again, am on the learning curve........learn something new every day, I say.

I think unique colors will start making a bigger difference on the resale value of 928s. The 928 is a unique car and a unique color will be worth more to someone who really likes that color. While I love my car and think Guards Red is great, it would be even better with the coral red metallic..... beautiful. However, my absolute favorite is Arena Red Metallic.....mmmmmm.

Also congrats on the Maserati. Wow, one great GT into another. Lucky man.

Understand that I am not saying the new ride is better than the old, only that its different and a better fit for me right now. In a few years I hope to be back in the 928 market, maybe even trying to buy back my old car.

I still have 2 Porsches in the garage and one is a race car that requires a lot of love and care. I am not straying very far from the flock.

Wow. This is a red letter day. Someone actually feeling the need to justify replacing a 928 with a Masarati. I'm looking at my 928 with a whole new respect.
