Default How to remove rear S-spoiler on an -86?

I´m about to remove the rear spolier on my 86 S.

It seems like the side portion of the spoiler (on the rear fenders) is quite tricky to get loose. In the rear part of it there is a simple screw but in the front part of it, were it fits against the windowtrim. How is it mounted?

And the part of the wing mounted to the hatch, how is it attached there?

Regards,

Tobias, Sweden

If you go towards the front of the spoiler, the part closest to the front of the car, you can lift up on the rubber part, and about 1 1/2 inches in there is another philips screw. Gently pull up on the rubber and looking up, you can see the screw. On the spoiler hatch, carefully remove the interior trim on the hatch. Most of it is held on with clips, the plastic was brittle on mine and most of the clips broke. The spolier itself is held on with a series of philip screws and four bolts. Hope this helps. Joe

under the "wings" you will find two mounting tabs.

on the bottom sided of the wings, you can pull up the rubber to access the screws that hold the wing to the mounting tabs.

the forward tab is bolted from inside the quarter panel (the right side is easy to get to, just behind the gas door, but the left side is a pain.....

the rearward tabs are both bolted and pop riveted. (that's the way they are on my parts Euro)

everything on the hatch unbolts from under the upholstery.....
