I seem to remember Kim still posting on the 928 mail list. Might try a public message there.

I contacted him last winter with the goal of picking his brain on all things 928, and found him to be very accomodating. He was glad to literally talk my ear off, which I was glad to hear everything he knows.

He was one of the few 928 pioneers we have had, and gets my respect, period. I also know that he has made a few enemies with all the arguing that can and does go on, and around most 928ers he is 'persona non grata'. So it goes.
I have raced motorcycles for 20+ years and I could relate to him on a certain level as fellow racer. He has knowledge as a racer and also a high level of technical knowledge as well.

I could care less about who said what when etc. but the guy knows a lot and no longer is part of the community. His contact info is out there and can be found.

I fully agree with your sentiments above and will always consider Mr. Kim J. Crumb one of the few pioneers of the 928 in the early "dark ages" when there was scant information to be found on the 928. I remember that time very well with no Rennlist and other sites to support fanatics of a specific car, especially the misunderstood 928.

We are all a bit spoiled nowadays, 928 owners have a great wealth of information and techinical expertise with the internet. Mr. Crumb was there when he was one of the few beacons of information and expertise on the 928. Also one of the few who recognized the potential of a 928 in track events back then.

Thought to ask of his whereabouts here and it seems to have worked. Boy am I spoiled... and it feels great!

Happy New Year,
Constantine

Anyone who considers Kim Crumb "persona non grata" simply doesn't know what they are talking about and will never deserve MY respect. He has always been freely giving of all his vast knowledge of 928's, willing to share his experiences and approached things with logic and a scientific evaluation. He will be welcome at my table any time!
