The "name" of your shark:
#77
Our daughter is not limited to just naming our sharks. She loves Russell's '94 Polar Silver GTS(who wouldn't), & aptly named it the Silver Bullit. I think he liked that name, not sure how well it's stuck with him, but it has around our house!

I sometimes refer to mine as the "Hooked-On-Cars mobile". Otherwise it's just the 928, or "der Neunachtundzwanziger", depending who I talk to.
Most of the German names you have given to your cars are very old names - names that were given to people born 40 or more years ago. Like Eva, Helmut, Bruno, Gertie, Charlotte, Gretel (remeber that "Gretchen" is not a real name - it merely means little Gretel)...
In recent years, Germans have picked more international names for their children, so some traditional German names have kind of faded away.

I haven't been able to get myself to call my car by name yet. I tried it once and it felt kind of silly. So for now it is just "Daddy's Porsche".
I have only had the car about 8 months so we are still getting aquainted. I probably have not found the right name yet. She'll let me know at some point I'm sure.

In the case of soup can, the "can" would not be "kann" or "Kanne", but "Dose" - a short form of "Konservendose" (conservation can).
"kann" would be used in a context as "Ich kann Dich anrufen" (I can call you).
"Kanne" would typically be something with a spout, like a watering can.
I have never heard anybody say "Suppendose", but rather refer to it in a descriptive manner like "a can of soup" - "Eine Dose Suppe"
Of course, then you can describe what's in there and call it "Dosensuppe" (can soup).
Alternatively, depending on where the soup is at the given time, you can say "Suppe in der Dose" (soup in the can), or "Suppe aus der Dose" (soup from the can).
I'm aware this may confuse you enough to avoid ever learning German...
