Slightly off the topic of how the Nology's perform but DR said they're back-ordered w a wait of 6-8 weeks! I decided to go ahead and order them for my '82.

I'm glad to hear someone had good results
with the jacobs wires, maybe the sets for
the newer cars fit better.
In the end since the really is no performance gain from aftermarket wires and
my car is all stock that I'd go for quality
and proper fit and called 928intl and ordered
stock ones.

As an after active comment here -

They'll be on by next weekend

Oh yeah, $206.73 to my doorstep.

Question

Hey Ed,
Glad to hear someone else is not super happy with the fit of the Jacobs wires on the distributor, and REALLY happy to hear they haven't popped loose in 2 years. (They really seem SO loose!) Anyway, 1)were you (are you?) using Bosch plugs? If so, 2)did you regap them wider with the new wires? If so, 3) what did you regap them to?? The new wires gave me a smoother idle (for sure), and a smoother power curve (I think), but I can't manage to get much more than 10 mpg, and I think I should be able to beat that. Anyone have any suggestions???

Cool

I'm using Bosch 4 prong plugs. They are not supposed to be regapped, so I didn't. The car runs smooth and gets about 15 mpg in the city, and about 22 mpg on the highway. On the track, it gets about 7 mpg, but I don't go to the track for fuel economy.

Have a look here; 928 International. They have a set they put together for $125.00. I purchased a set (along w/the cap and rotor) a year ago. The price is right and they do exactly what they are supposed to do!

I asked Specialists if there was really any performace gain from the Nology wires. The only real advantage is that the exhaust system run a little cooler. I don't know that is actually advantageous as the CAT needs to be hot to work efficiently.
