There were quite a few cars at the Frenzy that had bad flappys it seemed.
When i got home i thought, what the heck, i will check mine. The car was feeling a bit sluggish on the kickdown anyway.
SURE ENOUGH!
1) start car look for self test...no movment
2) grab pliers to turn shaft by hand...it was stuck! Problem solved....NOPE!
3)Mighty vac'd the flappy actuator..it turned now..GOOD
4)checked for electronic signal at solinoid, my small LED test light illuminated when connected to the flappy solinoid power source... GOOD
5) start tracing the vac line back to the "+" fitting. by the brake booster. All looked good..tight fittings on the lines
6)went to the little blue one way check valve..it was connected..but i decided to take it off to check for obstructions to flow. BINGO!!!
it wasnt plugged but rather the nipple on one end had broken off inside the rubber "+" connection, but it was still attached. It was just sitting in the tube allowing air to escape!
Pulled the broken half out of the hose with a wood screw. There was still enough material on the check valve to attatch the vac line to with a slight use of a MacGyverism.
Sealed it all up, started the car..Blipped the throttle and it worked!
time to order a new check valve.
Check your flappys.
you can see it broken off inside.
