928 Convertibles...stand up and be counted!
Okay...
We all know that Randy has one - and I know that Scott Mohr as well as 'Dan the Pod Guy' have one - so that makes 3 out there.
Then there is an ad on the rennlist for an 1985 928s cabriolet by gembella white black .auto 61k..$22k.
Anyone else?
Just curious...

In the mid 80's the guitarist George Benson used to have a black one over in Englewood Cliffs New Jersey. I saw that car about 6 years ago in Manhattan under a different owner and it did not look good.

Ya think that Doc Mohr is tryin' to corner the market?

There was one on e-bay about 5 months ago (I think?) I do remember it was in Washington State. It was white and needed tons of work. I also remember the pics and it was a trashed black int. I was surprised at the final price (cheep). Maybe someone who has the time can look through e-bay to find this one. Or it might be one of the ones that you have already accounted for. I thought that it was like a '79.

I have a 79 928 Euro 5 Spd Kevlar Spyder. Not really a convertible - we have not built a top for it yet. The body has NO SEAMS in it - one piece - pulld from vacuum-formed molds. Turned out pretty good, I think. Many memeber of the Great Lakes Owners Club have seen it. I tried to post a pic or two here for you to see but the photo upload says I am not a member so I can't. Weird. I have been a memeber - wonder wahssup. There is a picture of it at the bottom of www.928trackcars.com/fausett

There was a black one in Portland OR; early model I think as it was wearing 16" phone dials.
I don't live in that area any longer, but would estimate about 18mo. ago that it showed up there, it moved in with a home sale/new owners and was wearing OR. plates when it arrived. I never got a chance to talk with them as I left the area soon after.

Chucker,
The one you're talking about could be my neighbor's. Had rust spots in the door sills and the interior didn't look too good...same for the convertible top...looked '79 or '80 to me although he claimed it was an '87, even though it's an OB with euro tailight. He doesn't have (or so he claimed) the title "yet". The door sills spelled Racelli (sp?) - or is it Ricalli ? Oh and he claims it was taken back to Europe just to have a tuneup by qualified techs, and then returned to the US. - yeah right - and he said he'd give it to me for under $60,000 since I'm a nice guy and since we're neighbors. (good thing there is no emoticon for what I thought)
