Assuming it's NOT an airbag car;

1 Grab ahold of the hornpad on both sides
and give a sharp hardy yank.
2 Look down inside and you'll ses the nut
that holds it on
3 Grab ahold of the wheel and shake/wiggle
it off.

The horn pad is held on by three prongs that release when you pull out of it. Do it carefully and it will come out. I pulled at the top and side to remove mine.

Then there is a 27mm bolt that you have to remove. Also, you will see where the electric connects to the horn, disconnect this.

Nope....an 88 didn't come with air bags.

Several methods that will work have been mentioned. My favorite is the grasping both sides of the horn pad and giving a quick & firm tug to remove it.

The wheel itself is held on as mentioned above with a 27 mm nut. When you replaqce the weheel - be certain to torque this back tot he correct value - 36 ft-lbs is what is caled for I believe (look this up - or re-post for the correct value).

btw - some of the MOMO wheels require an adapter to the keep the wheel off of the Pod - and the wiring will most probably require an additional piece fabricated to make the horn button work - my Club 4 did anyway.

My old wheel is dark blue, and not in bad shape. The stitching was redone when I bought the car from Par Porsche 2 years ago.
