How much would it take to make YOUR 928 perfect.
Simple enough, how much money would it take to turn your 928 the ride of your dreams.
The things you have to pay some one else to do, count it to.
I think I have at least another $20,000 to go.
Blower and extra parts $8,500
Wheels and tires $3,500
The rest on the inside of the car and some powder coating.
As Jim Bailey said about some one or something, I am about $20,000 away from a $15,000 car.
Sometimes is sucks to be addicted.
The problem with my plan is that I am sure when I get through with all of what I have planned now, there will always be more.
EDIT, I said Jim Brown and I should have said Jim Bailey.

I have no idea. I don't add up the receipts. (Made that mistake on the '89 once.)
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

For the '88 it would take about $4k.
For the '90 about $900.00.
Then I'd just want to add a super charger to one of them so figure in an additional $7k to either or.

OOH, cool thread...
Seriously, my car has some big-time needs, but not that much in the way of dollars (no, really).
I'll do all my own work, so the labor doesn't count, right?
I'm gonna say interior- $3500
Engine work- $4500
Suspension/brakes $2500
Paint job- $5000
Window tint-$500?
Ok, so I still have a long way to go.

What's perfect?
I'm a mechanical guy with cosmetics a distant 2nd.
IMHO it has to be mechanically factory or better then comes the detailing although I do admit my personal wheel and mirror upgrades bring the car out of the '80's.

Perfect as in back to show room condition? Or perfect as in the pleasure you would get by making you passenger scream for thier mommy as you push the gas pedal through the floorboard of your blown, twin turbo, nitrous injected 7.0l,6-speed, 335 tire burning 928?

Three Wheelin'
I figure I'm about $15,000 away from having a $15,000 Vehical (before supercharging and or any other major mods). It really does'nt matter because where else are you going to get a potentially 165MPH super car that looks good, is comfortable and will be timeless in it's curb appeal for 15 grand. S**t, you can't even buy a Hundai for that kinda money! Some people golf, fish, hunt, ski, boat, bike, fly or bowl and spend more money than we do in a year on maintaining a "real" automobile. They can have it, I'll take my 928, all day, every day!
PS: I have not driven my 928 in 3 1/2 years and it is awaiting serious restoration of suspension, body and interior as I write with the parts on hand
with anticipation of the expected WYAIT$$.
Paul Barrera '91 $4

Let's see... I dismantle the entire car down to each piece of sheet metal. Measure them all using a high accuracy laser scanner. Re-create each panel from long-weave carbon fiber.
Rebond the whole thing with unobtanium infinite adhesion space age glue.
Drop in the motor which conveniently had most of it's componentry re-done in titanium.
Lay in the car-area-network in fiber optic cable to replace all the wiring.
Yeah.... it's gonna get expensive
