Post Emission Results Question

Hey guys, I have the following readings in my gas analyzer test. NOx-Standard 1146 my result was 1347 HC-Standard 152 my result was 13 CO-Standard 0.86 my result was 0.00. My question is, With the above numbers what type of driveability problems should I be encountering? The car does seem down on power with a hesitation in low speeds. Thanks, Reno

I am far from an expert Reno, but it appears you are running a bit lean in my opinion.

Wile it is very difficult to make too many guesses on your situation because there are a LOT of differences between the emissiions equipment on a '79 and a '95 - and we are only assuming that you are talking about a 928 - the most probable answer is "None".

High NOx rarely indicates a performance or drivability problem.

The car is a 1984 928S Euro(310)HP. Sorry about that. Reno

Significant quantaties of NOx can only be produced in the presence of a flame (or in this case spark) it is unlikely to be produced in a cat.

The low HC and zero CO in conjuction with the high NOx indicate a lean mixture to me. Although the higher combustion ratio Euro could conceivably result in lower HC numbers IMHO. The lack of CO indicates a properly functioning cat, assuming one is present.

I can't speculate on the drivability or performance related issues regarding a lean mixture, too many variables in my mind. YMMV
