T-belt position....
Not trying to raise the debates again, maybe something a little different?
Anyways, I've just got down to the T-belt, hand spun the crank twice, put the harmonic balancer's "0T" mark on the pointer, lined the notches up..... But they don't quite make the bearing notch, about a quarter to a third of a tooth, behind, from lining up. Both the same.
Is this a bad sign?
Using the aftermarket tool (Thanks Ron!), the T-belt is still well within the window.
I've kinda been wondering about stuff, as my car does NOT seem to have as much zip, as some other sharks, older or newer, less or more mileage, seems to make no difference. My engine is tight; even with the plugs pulled out, it was HARD to turn! Doesn't seem to burn oil.... Is there a way to adjust the spark timing? Just turned 88k on the odometer, on the trip to and from SITM.
I am otherwise very pleased with our shark! When I do stick my foot in it, it does jump!

The position of the cams to the sprockets is adjustable on you year 928, so the way that notches in the sprockets line up with the pointers doesn't necessarily mean much as far as the exact cam timing. It's pretty typical for the notches and pointers to not line up exactly all of the time. The amount that the belt has or hasn't stretched will also play a factor.
The ignition timing on your car is not adjustable unless you use a piggyback or aftermarket engine management computer.
There are a number of reasons that your car may not feel as zippy as others, even if it is internally in good condition. Things like the temp2 or MAF sensors could do it, as well as something as simple as your throttle cable not being correctly adjusted.
