Post Clutch adjustment question .......

I have a 79 5 speed...I have noticed when I start to release the clutch in gear it starts to grab as soon as I move it up from the floor ..At about an inch or less ...Is there ANY way to adjust the "play" so it starts to grab later or farther up ...When I stop at a signal I must keep the petal on the floor or it will start to creep...I would appreciate ANY ideas ... THANKS

There is no operational adjustment of the clutch.

First thing to try is to carefully bleed the clutch system. Belled it normally, then unbolt the slave - don't loosen the line - and push the operating rod all the way in. Remount, and re-bleed.

You do have a clutch pushrod adjusment that preloads the master cylinder. If yours is too loose it could cause problems like you've encountered. The rod from your pedal to the master cylinder should be adjusted one revolution past a no load position.
