I think Nicole is a Jaeger dealer isn't she?

Do a search for Nicole or 'Hooked on Cars'.

Edit: Oh, you're over there. She can still probably help, but you might find someone closer.

No need to buy, you can make your own for a fraction of the cost.

Get a hold of one used or new transport truck mud flap and cut a strip out of it (you can probably used a thick rubber front door mat too). Cut it so it’s as wide as the cross member, then put a large piece of plywood between the oil pan and the jack. Then slowly lift the car up until you have enough room to slide the “home made speed mount” between the oil pan and the cross member. After this, lower the engine/car and you are done! I made a couple of them like this and have been under the engine for at least 3 years.

Scrap sheet rubber ¾ x 10 x 3" (19 x 250 x 75mm).

½" is too small, 1" is too big, ¾" is just right.

Don't listen to these guys. Keep the sponsors in business.

They'll have you fabricating things like home-made superchargers and designing and building your own belt tensioner system.

When you finally decide to actually replace the motor mounts plan on doing the oil pan gasket as well since you will have been compressing the old cork gasket with 700 lbs or so of vibrating moving weight subject to forces of up to about 3 Gs or 2,100 Lbs .

I thought this was the law anyway, like water pump with timing belt, like shampoo with shower, and that violaters would soon be violated.

Too be honest, I didn't really notice a huge difference. Not like when I actually got new motor mounts. Just bite the bullet and do the new mounts.

There won't be a huge difference but just enough that it will feel normal.

The way I look at it is that since the oil pan gasket is old and shot, might as well replace it when times comes to do the MM. The cross memeber has to come off anyways so chaging the pan gasket is easy. In the mean time the rubber mat between the pan and the cross member will do. Sinc ethis is only a band aid solution, I didn't wnant to spend any money making and installing it. I faild, it cost me $5 but have enough material left to do at least two more!

Wait a minute...isn't the engine resting on the crossmember anyway because of the collapsed mounts? What's the difference?

Here's my experience:

1. engine resting on crossmember, transmitting vibration into body.

2. jacked engine, placed Jager Speedmount, and enjoyed much smoother ride, especially when warm.

3. decided to replace motor mounts just over a year later. Successfully did so *without* dropping crossmember. Removed Speedmount.

4. no oil leaks from pan gasket.

5. new motor mount ride quality is slightly better than Speedmount. Less vibration, particularly when cold.

6. Summary is the Speedmount works great!

YMMV, of course, but I sold my magic Speedmount already.

I never understood the speedmount idea. Engine mount has collasped so fix the root problem. Why spend the time and extra $ jury rigging?

Speedmount Advantages:

It prevents metal on metal contact
Fitted in minutes
Cheap

Speedmount Disadvantages:

It might delay replacing the Engine Mounts
It allows virtually no engine rock and therefore encourages transmission shunt
It allows virtually no vertical engine movement, which results in a harsh ride on poor surfaces
Potential sump gasket damage

Having fitted one myself I recommend this is only done as a temporary measure and only if the sump contacts the crossmember. Even with hydraulic mounts that appear completely collapsed you don't always get sump crossmember contact.

i will get the speedmounts, and maybe in some time i will change the real mounts. As is now, i haven't got the tools, i haven't got the place to do it on and i haven't got the time. Getting a shop to do it is not an option, thats crazy money. So i reckon it is a nice quick fix for the time beeing.

i got a reply from Jager, they still carry them. $35.70. but they are designing a new one with slightly modified measure and material, it is supposed to be released jan/feb, so i will wait till then.

thankx for the inputs

$35 + Shipping to Europe then you have to pay duty and taxes (it will end up costing you $100 at the end and you’ll wait fro a month)!! Just make your own. This is what you need to get and cut it to size:
