Fuel Pump Relay
84' 928S 5 speed
Fuel pump was not powering up, on good advise from Wally I removed that relay (XV11) and jumpered 30 & 87 - Shark starts and runs. Removed jumper and placed Rear Defrost then Horn then Air Blower relays none of which powered the fuel pump.
Do I just buy a new relay specific to the fuel pump or shouldn't the others run the pump (as a test issue)?

'85-'88 the fuel pump relay is the same as horn, fresh air blower, and back-up light and can be swapped when troubleshooting. '78-'84 the fuel pump relay is different.

The '84 USA and Japan cars are the last years for the complex fuel pump relay - no interchangeable relay.
The '84 ROW ("Euro") cars, and all '85 and up use the standard "253" or "53" relay for the fuel pump, and there are several "spares" in the panel, operating less-critical functions.
The 1984 models are the most complex 928s from an electrical standpoint. Not that they have more gadgets, but that this was a change-over year. In addition, there are no usable electrical wiring diagrams for the '84 models. A real PITA.
