Found broken spring in transmission pan. Where could it go?
Hello,
I am in the middle of a transmission fluid and filter change. When I lowered the pan, I found part of a broken spring the pan. It is about 3/4" long and about 3/8" or 1/2" in diameter.
I'm going back outside to look around, but if someone could help steer me to where the spring may have come from, please let me know. I'll check back in a little while.
Thanks,
Greg

Thanks for the reply.
The plunger (if I'm looking at the right one) does spring back.
This is a hook type return spring that I found.
Could give return action to something, or could be used to hold something in place.
Still Searching.

I think I have found it in the service manual. I think it is the "engage return spring". Now to find that part on the trans. The picture is an extreme close up and there is little in the way of a reference point.
Still hunting.

That spring is for the throttle valve lever; the TV cable is attached to the lever.

The kickdown cable attaches to a J-hook assembly, on the left side of the trans, that is spring activated.
Perhaps this is what it goes to?
