Post Rear Fog Light function for US S4+

Looking at the Euro wiring diagrams, it looks like there is a rear fog lamp option, with the fog function actually a bright (like brake-light bright) filament in the inner upper left segment of the existing tail light assembly.

The discussion of the blanked holes under the dash used for the fog light switch sparked a thought that it might not be too difficult to get rear foglight functionality without too much modification.

So here's the question list:

Can anybody confirm that the rear fog lamp switch on Euro cars is located in one of those blanks by the intermittent wiper of dash illumination pots?

Can anybody confirm my suspicion that the wiring harnesses supplied on the US cars might actually have the fog light wiring included and just not connected?

US regs on using the rear foglight include having a prominent dash indicator light so that we know when we are abusing the drivers behind us. Is that indicator in my dash now and just not used?

It would be pretty cool to have that function, especially if it's a matter of a relay, a switch, a rear lamp socket change, and a bulb swap.

Victim vehicle is my '89 S4, by the way.

Thanks!

On the euro versions, the rear fog light switch is where the trip reset button is on a US car. Below the front fog light button. So it's light switch, front fog light, rear fog light.

The trip meter reset is under the pod on the left side, like where the "intensive wash" button is but on the other side. On the euros, that is.

There's actually a rear fog light switch from an '80-ish euro on ebay right now I think. I ran across it the other day.

Cool

-It's probably not much help, dr Bob, but my previous car, a US model Corrado, did not have the wiring harness for the rear fog light, nor did it have the switch. People would modify their cars to make this work by simply buying a switch from the dealer and running an extra wire under the carpet to the lamp holders. The harness had that wire deleted, apparently. I guess they figured that they saved money by deleting the wire vs. an additional step/decision in the manufacturing of the harness. A much more limited production car like the 928 might indeed have the wiring.
