Post E-Bay GT???

There is a Velvet Red / Tan 1989 928 S4 on ebay. Looks like a very nice car. Unfortunately the seller is claiming it has the "GT package" in his title and description. This is NOT a GT, but a regular S4. Unless of course the owner has taken the time to remove the GT exhaust and install S4 exhaust and has taken the shortened GT shifter out and replaced it with the longer S4 version

I did email the seller but, I suspect that the lure of thousands of extra dollars for the GT over S4 will keep him from properly representing this car.

It looks to have some agressive bidders. If this is you, just be aware that you are not bidding on a real GT despite what the badge on the rump, or the seller tells you. Ask for the option codes from the trunk sticker. GT engine code 28/47-85 gearbox 28/55.

Still looks to be a fine S4

Just a heads-up, he did post this;

On Feb-06-03 at 13:22:38 PST, seller added the following information:
please be advised, that this car, is an s4.it is not a gt, but is a 5 speed.the horsepower is rated at 326. thanks

So maybe he recognised your truth. I do wonder about the "GT" reference on the tail though......

You're right, he went and made the notation. Maybe I am being **** but I mailed him back with another correction, S4's are 316hp, GT's 326

Nice to see that the seller cares.

The GT designation on the tail is easy to do. You just buy a 928 GTS logo from the big three and omit the S when you stick it on The PO of my car did just that, of course mine actually is a GT.

I take back anything negative I said, or inferred about the seller. He did the right thing.

I, too, noticed this little faux pau...

To the dealer's credit - he has had numerous clean late model 928's on eBay that I have watched - this is the first that hasn't been 100%correct. Sounds like you did him a favor in maintaining his reputation. (is that worth a C note off the selling price? )
