No start - narrowing it down even further !

No start - narrowing it down even further !
Hi all
After my previous problems with starting, which subsequently 'fixed themselves' I think I may have found a common thread.
I had a new Toad immobiliser fitted before Xmas. Soon after I started getting 'Toothed Belt Service' messages on the computer. I had the belt checked and it was fine. Clicking the computer stalk cleared the message each time.
A couple of weeks later the car wouldn't restart after stopping. There was fuel, but no spark or injector activity on cranking.
I had the immobiliser removed by the dealer, but still no start on the car.
A few weeks later, the car began working fine: no Toothed Belt message, and no recurrence of the starting problem. I've been driving it with no problem for 3 weeks.
I had the immobiliser refitted today ( a new unit in case the old one was faulty), and the first thing I noticed is 'Toothed Belt Service' appearing 2 minutes after starting the car. It's kinda deja vu ... and I have a bad feeling !
Anyone see any connection between these clues ?
