rare 5 spd
Don't you guys hate it when a seller includes that in his/her discription of the car?
Common, what is rare about it? All stickshift 928 has the same shift pattern.
Just a remark.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the 5spd is a good choice for everyone but it's definitely the more uncommon version which might very well be important to a collector/enthusiast IMHO.
I like my red GTS 5spd a lot and I would most probably use the term "rare" somewhere along the line if I were to describe my shark.

With only about 20% of all 928s leaving the factory with manual transmissions, don't you think "rare" is an accurate description?
If you are talking about the unique shift pattern, I would also consider the "racing H" shift pattern rare. How many five speeds are configured this way? It is pretty rare.
Don't let it bug you, just pick up a five speed, join the club, it is the best way to enjoy a 928. Sometimes I think you auto guys are just jealous

Gio, "Ahhh grasshopper, the only time that the car will be too much to handle is when you start to drive it". Maybe we should organize a tech meeting at your house this summer and get the thing running. How far from Michigan to Alabama?
Rare is a relative term, 7 5-sps at one time is unusual and how many are in what you consider good condition?? Having either transmission in our garage attached to the real thing takes some of the rarity away, but when driving, how many do you see? That is just hype from a seller who must be forgiven. To the average ebay surfer, or driver out there, ANY 928 is rare. Buy either AT or 5 sp 928 and then start looking for a knowledgeable mechanic, in most cases that is when you find out how rare the 928 is.
With rare I mean the shift pattern it has.
To my knowledge every 928 stickshift has the same shift pattern, so what is rare about it? E.g. if only 15 928 came from the facory equipped with a 6 speed gearbox, well, that would be considered a rare find. But in this case every gearbox is alike with the 928 (excluding ratios etc).
Okay I admit, I am JEALOUS.... bahhhh :-((
