I've got a short block from Kibort with 50k, a set of euro 4.7 pistons from Devek also with about 50k, and a set of new rings from 928Intl. The bores are great and the pistons aren't scuffed at all so I expect/assume/hope it's going to seal just fine. We'll see.

Let us know how it works Mike. After all this discussion, I'm curious.

Mike,
all is well as long as the pistons and block tol codes match, otherwise, you will be a bit loose or worse, too tight

Install the rings carefully!

Marc,

It's all TG 1. The _only_ thing preventing assembly at this stage are those darned hollow dowels that locate the block halves. I have one, can't find the other, no luck sourcing 2 new ones from anyone. I'm about to have some made so I can stuff this engine in the weinrot. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, this US 4.7 block has cutouts around two opposite corner main studs for these dowels.

Thanks again Erik,
It has been downloaded, printed, punched and installed in my 3 ring binder and is awaiting a read. Perhaps this weekend. My latest priority involves whether to cut the crank mains or not. I need to get to the shop to take a look at it post polishing. It's tricky to find oversize (or undersize depending on who you talk to) bearings. The dealer has them for $330! Do you know if Glyco made the original bearings? I found a set of std for $99. Good deal, but I want original manuf. bearings. The weather is starting to warm up here and I'd rather drive the 87 than the 85, I really have to get going on this car!! Thanks Erik, your a good guy.
