Post RMB

Another 928 owner here in Vancouver is considering installing the 928 Specialist's RMB on an 87 S4. Does anyone who has installed an RMB have any comments; positive or negative.

Thanks

I love the way mine sounds. I think my GT has a little louder intermediate mufflers than an '87 S4. So my car is probably a hair louder. My wife thinks it is a little loud, that confirms my feelings that it is just right

I have a short movie clip on my website of what my car sounds like. My buddy also made an in car recording running down an on ramp.

Put it on my 89 GT. Best thing I ever did to her. Like taking 15 years off your 40 year old wife........

They should have come that way in the first place.

I had one instaled but removed it putting back the factory muffler when my cats said enough. I put cat bypass pipes instead of new cats and the RMB/cat bypass combo was too loud for me.

Enjoy it!

I am looking into installing a RMB on my S4 too. But strangely, all the comments focus mainly on the enhanced sound. Are there any other benefits or drawbacks to this modification?

Thanks

From what I gathered out of the Archives you might see 10 to 15 HP improvement out of it. But mostly the added BWWWAAAAAAHHH Factor.

Cool

The 87 years are probably the best candidates for the RMB without increasing the noise output to the obnoxius level due to the 87 resonators being larger than the 88+ years.

That being said, I personally like the noise level - and it isn't bad until you hit ~4k rpms.

Used 87 resonators are available for the post 87 models from 929 International and should bolt right up to the later year models.

In as far as performance gains - dunno. My dyno results were post RMB and Cat Bypass mods with no previous numbers. Currently posting ~275 HP and 283 RWTQ on a Dynojet model.

There is a complete 87 exhaust setup on eBay right now for those with the later year models to swap over to if the RMB is to loud for you.

The 87 had the larger mid resonators.
