Unhappy Windshield wiper glitch

Pattycakes was still up on the homemade ramps, sans alternator -ETA tuesday-.
A major storm blew up 'all around'Midland and large hail was predicted. To the Bat Cave!
So I secured the hardware and the Batt./Alt.wires.
When I turned the ignition key the wipers started cycling...
The car had been locked and I did not touch the wiper lever...?
Furthermore, they won't shut off!
If I pull the relay/fuse they stop but upon re-install they start again.
I've done the wiper stalk wiggle and it still has a distinctive click - in or out-.
Miserable sparks!
Anyone have a cure?
TIA.

John,

Relays 17 and 18 could cause the wipers to run. Did you try removing both of them? If those aren't the culprit, the problem could be in the wiper parking circuit.

John,
You didn't, by any chance, import Pattycakes from Haiti, did you?

Just an idea...disconnect and reconnect your battery. Maybe the positive lead. You might also want to check the rear grounding point.

Had the exact same problem...while replacing my fuse panel and a couple of relays.

Felt like a real idiot. Sitting there with the wipers running.

I changed a bunch of things...do not know which one solved it...but I did disconnect and reconnect the battery. I seemed to solve it.

The whole story is...I had to do the fuse panel job twice. The second time I forgot to disconnect the battery before working...maybe something you did when you replaced your alt. After getting the new panel and all the fuses and relays in...the wipers were always going...AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT.

Disconnect the power seemed to RESET the fuel pump and put the wipers back to normal.

Does this sound right?

Never know, I did just connect the battery prior to startup= there is, at this time no alt. installed.
Thanks though.
