Post AntiBlock??? What the....

As I was backing out of the parking space at the store today, something hit my left foot. I looked down to see a BIG connector sitting there - not connected to anything.

WHOA - What the heck is this?? I felt around and couldn't find anywhere for it to plug in....EVERYTHING seemed to work fine.

Drove home (drove fine...) and climbed down there with the light...it didn't seem to connect anywhere . It was a split off of a larger cable, and there was a part number on it.."928.162.121.03"

Fired up my PET, and on part # search was given a very vague description of "Harness"....no links to any illustration...so I started searching thru ALL the electricals...I finally found it on a page called "ANTIBLOCK SYSTEM" What the heck is this???

The only thing I could figure was that it was a mis-translation of ANTI LOCK, and it was the plug-in for the optional antilock braking. I found it in the PET at: Model 928, Year-85, MG-9, SG-2, Illustration- 902-16.

Can someone help me out with this???

ABS originally stood for "Anti Blocking System" abd referred to the anti lock braking ststem in your car.

"Anti-blockier" en Francaise, as I have been studying...

[not; I've been lazy! Bad Normy-]

If you have an '85 S2 then you likely have ABS as I do. I don't recall off hand where the ABS controller is located, and I cannot remember any large connectors like this just above my left foot.

If you can post a picture, I'll post one back of what is located under my dash, since we have basically the same car.

ABS = Anti Blockier System (Anti Lock System), as pioneered by Bosch in Germany.

Yep, there are acronymes in this world that are not based on the English language...

Mark...did you get the number right? There is a big cable under my dash with a tag that says 928.612.121.03- This enourmous connector is attached to a metal box above the dead pedal and hood release. My shop manuals say that this is the ABS controller. If you have ABS, then re-attach the connector to this box. Otherwise, get out your roll of George-Dubya-Bush-Mandated-duct tape and tape it up so it won't interfere with your feet.

N! -

My '85 is a ROW, and from what I have read, ABS was an option (that I don't have)!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease, all!

Consider it "Dubya'd"
