Default Door locks won't quit cycling ??

Hello ! I searched the old posts and did not come up with anything, so I have to ask has anyone had this problem..... Power locks keep cycling all the time, door closed they just keep trying to lock. I can turn key in either door, they will stop for a few seconds to maybe a minute. When I pulled fuse for central locks, and put fuse back in, I am hearing a buzzing noise coming from the console area ( I assume the controller) Car is 1990 S4. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Here are a few of links that *might* help you diagnose the problem:

I'm not familiar with the locking system myself, but I imagine there are several folks here that will be willing to help out.

Good luck!

Check to see if both sides are in the same position (i.e. both locked, or both unlocked). I had to replace my internal door handle hardware once, when I put everything back together, they did the same thing. I found that in working on the handle, I had to also mess with the locking mechanism, and got them off sequence.

I don't remember exactly what the lock's look like, but I think I remember it also doing it when I hooked it all back up wrong, not allowing the rotating part to hit a stop. Which for you (and this is pure speculation here) might mean something has broken on the locking mechanism inside the door. Hope that helps.

I see someone posted my link. The first thing to check is the fuses - yes fuses (2).

They are located in black fuse holders clipped to the top of the fuse board. Sometimes they get pushed down behind the panel. If one fuse is bad it will cause the symptoms you are experiencing. The 90 being a later design may have changed to a different wiring set up, but I am assuming they did not.

Good luck.

I'd be surprised if you searched the forums and came up with nothing? There are so many posts on here about the door locks. Jason
