Gregg,

Thought you lived in Grosse Pointe, not Taylor Tuckey!

"Double Roar Sports Exhaust".

That car actually came to my attention too.
<img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />
This 928 GT is supercharged and the owner claims to get 426 HP at the crank and a 0-60 time of about 4 seconds.
The car also features a partial bodykit (GTS wing, new hood, new lights etc.), a sports exhaust, new bilstein adjustable coilovers and 18" Porsche Speedline wheels.
The mileage is quoted to be under 46k.
<img src="graemlins/icon501.gif" border="0" alt="[icon501]" />
Well, the proud owner wants 29000 Euro for his 928 GT but I think that there is no way for him to find a buyer who wants to pay that price here in Germany.
As this car is heavily modified, no German collector will touch it at this price, despite the low milegae.
People who'd like to own this kind of car for fun only and have the resources to buy and maintain it seem to be particularly rare in Germany.
I would probably buy it, if I liked the color combination.
I guess you might be able to get this seller to include shipping to the USA and the required modifications for a DOT approval in the price of 29k Euro (or even less), if he really wants to sell it.

Hi Greg,

I think you may have already missed it but here is the perfect car for you. It is a widebody, automatic, here in the USA, and has low miles.

The car is at:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1851466148" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1851466148</a>

As for those who pointed Gregg towards the blue car in Europe it is a stick shift and he asked for a auto. Also the car would be nearlly imposaible to get into the USA.

Curious though how did you guys find the 928 in Germeny anyway?

Do you check all the local Ebay's or is there a way to check them all at once?

Hey thanks forall the response so far. To Big Dave; the only way i'd do a wide body is if someone else bought the car, then the kit and the wheels, then shipped it off to the bodyshop for 3-4 months(and paid thru the nose for the service) and then got tired of the car and sold it for half of what they got in to it, which is all its worth in this market.

Maintenance costs alone make these cars a marginal value but because you meet so many really great people in the process, $ value becomes a second issue.

To Strosek, yeah I know, I was watching the car and called and talked with Kevin Callahan, owner of the dealership, and asked to do a buy it now price. He agreeed at $26,000 and I passed. Looking back I think that was a fair price with the milage and all. A good point that was just brought up is what is someone willing to pay for a heavily modified car? It certainly is a "I love it or Hate it issue."

Well I guess I need to see more pricing to figure out whether or not the resale is gonna be there. We all know after you get the car you have to add $2,000-4,000 over the next 12-24 mo for maintence so inital price should be considered heavily.

P.S. how did Randy V pull up the German listing? <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" /> <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

With reference to resale value of a Strosek/Ruf/Gembella/modified Porsches, this topic was discussed in Excellance mag some time ago. Without a doubt the modified cars sell at higher prices than their stock counterparts! Their ability to maintain value over a long period of time is also geater.
