Post Car Bras

Does anyone have any input regarding the value of these "bras" ? I would really like to protect the front of the car from road chips, etc, and I've heard that applying the "road gard" clear film on an already used car will only accentuate the little chips on the front.

I ordered a Porsche bra from performance products, and figured I should check to see if it's really worth it.

Thanks again!!

I can't speak to the 928 bras, but on previous cars of mine, bras had a habit of holding dust and other fine debris, which acted like sandpaper on my finish. The degree of sanding was relative to the fit of the bra. Some of them were better than others.

Bra's are good for road trips and such but not so good for daily use. Unless you intend to remove it two or three times a week to clean your car and bra before reinstalling it. Never let a wet bra dry on your car, as this will cause clouding of the paint. Wax your car thoroughly and let cure for a day before installing the bra. You don't want any moisture between the bra and your paint, nor any small particals. And when you do install one make sure it is tight so that any flapping action is minimized. With that I have purchased a bra for MY "86 and have found that it is a fantastic fit. Got it from 928 International.

I thought you might like to see the damage a wet bra can do when left on the car. When I bought the car, it had a bra on it. I didn't remove it before purchase. I've since bought a new bra (Devek) to keep the damage covered until the repaint. Heed Shane's advice, use for road trips and take it off to dry.

The one car that I had a bra on (don't ask) ended up looking like $hit. The bra was supposed to protect against rock chips. It did that, but ended up ruining the finish in the process.

I'd stay away from them unless you're prepared to pull the bra off every time it gets wet.
