Post Radiator issue - Which is preferred ?

Hi All,
I am about to finish assmebling my 1982 Euro 928S engine (many thanks to wally and others who answered my questions three months ago - I'll soon be able to tell you about the engine's health).

The engine is stock apart from mild road cams and manilfods.

The thing is, i can either put in the stock radiator (combined oil/water radiator) or opt for a dedicated external oil radiator placed at the front of the water radiator.

Anyone with an advice on which is better for my 928?

Thanks
Eran Sharon

So Porsche sorted this out and as of MY91 (maybe 90?) they mounted an external oil cooler.

With the Behr raidator having a tendancy to be fragile and if you are doing your own maintenance it sure makes getting the radiator in and out a lot easier.

You can get your cooler pipes modified at a local hose shop, the external oil cooler for the 928 is >$300, However Merceded used Behr oil coolers, might be able to track down a used one of those.

Thanks Chris, I thought it can do good and your post only encouraged me to follow that path.

by the way, do you or anybody else know which model was the matching behr oil radiator used?
300 $ is the tip of the iceberg for an Israeli shark owner (with about 85% tax and all), so I'd like to exploit what's available locally.

I have no idea which one is an exact match, might have to experiment but the main issue is getting one that will fit.

Should locate below the radiator, may need to make modifications to the front spoiler to allow airflow to this are. Not sure about pre-S4 cars as to the bodywork.

I am trying to search for one that will fit.
I'll look into some S4 workshop manuals to see any photos of the installed unit.

Thanks Again
Eran.
