Hi everyone,
Im trying to replace my factory Monterey with a Florida CD model, but my local stereo guy has done nothing but waste my time. He can't seem to get it to work with the factory amp and fader.
My question is this:
Can I install this Blaupunkt Florida model using the factory amp and fader? I dont want to rewire the whole car, as I am nervous changing the factory configuration. I would keep the old Monterey stereo, but the tuner is going.
Thanks,
Curt

Hey Curt,
I am not sure that I will be helpful, but I upgraded Monterey in my 86S with Keywest.
Rather than use OEM amp, I bough a cables from SW stero ( www.swstero.com, 800-270-2378)which directly connected to the speaker cables. He can custom make the cable fo ryour stereo in couple of days for about $50.00 Once you receive the cable, its pretty simple 10 mintue job of connecting wires. Hope this helps.

Hey Curt..When I purchased my 928 it had a Blau Las Vegas installed with some pretty shabby wiring.I too had some issues with the wiring (done external to factory) and I returned the system to factory harness. The pre amp beside the pass seat did not work as tests were made to check it out so with the help of a few fellow rennlisters I managed to bypass the amp. Being not too familliar with your player a few questions come to mind..
1..does it have 4 speaker output
2...does the amp produce more than 45watts/4
The factory speakers are (if my memory serves me)are in the range of 10-15 watts power handling.
My Las Vegas worked out ok..all I had to do was run 4 sets of wires ie LF+,-, RF+,-,LR+,-,and RR+,-, to the location of the amp. At the amp I toned out the speaker wires which were plugged into the amp and connected the player instead of the amp. This worked out very well and sounded not to bad except there was no bottom end so a sub was in order and is now installed...sounds good and looks a hell of alot better than what was there..I hope this helps and GoodLuck Regards Bill 84 928s
