hello,
I have a handed down 1985 BLK 928S AUTO trans with only 38,000 miles on it. My brother said it was overheated, so he brought the water pump, timing belt, and the head gasket. It sat there for five years. So, it is time to resurrect it. The other day, I placed a new battery into it and it would not start. It just click and no start. All the electrical system seem to work except for the HVAC system. I am a beginner in dealing with Porsches. I am going to do the water pump, belts, and the gasket changes. I would like to know if anyone can advise me on the tools and method to accomplishing these replacement and to determining what was the cause for the overheat.? Please any help would be great!!
thank you
johnny

Welcome Johnny and don't despair. There are some very helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum that will surely help you out.
The best technical resource is the workshop manuals but failing that you may want to check out http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/nichols/tips.htm
Greg has procedures on the site for doing just about any maintenance on a 928.
Good luck
