Default An amplifier question.

Another example of the 928 whirlwind...I got caught in this vortex when I picked up a new head unit (a JVC KD-NX5000). Next I thought, time to change the original speakers so I acquired a pair of MB Quart QSD 210's and QSD164's.

Now my head is spinning after reading all the posts on the value of an amplifier. Looks like I will be pulled in a little deeper.

My questions is, can one amp. meet my needs such as:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...173319122&rd=1

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=010

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=010

I've searched and read all the current stuff but to be honest, I can't even pretend to understand sound stuff. Rebuild an engine - no problem...pick out the appropriate sound stuff...forget it.

Thanks for any help.

yes.

4 or 5ch amp will serve nicely. Typically mounting location dictates setup, since you'll have to find a location that suits your visual tastes. Hence, many use multiple smaller amps to locate to their suiting or provide more flexibility to hiding them.

fwiw - 4x55, 1x200 is a nice power level.

Looks like a nice amp - size/location would be the primary issue. If you are going to run it at high levels you will need a smoothing cap to avoid dropouts - esp with a sub-woofer. May not be needed at moderate levels...

Thanks for the replies...I like the idea of sticking with the MB Quart...German made and all.

Mike,

No matter what you do, your system will not be complete without some kind of sub-woofer. The factory speaker locations in a 928 do nothing for real bass. I lucked across a custom made box that fits in place of the spare & use 2 Punch amps, one with 150 for the bass & the other with 50X2 for the MB Quart 2 ways I put in the factory 6.5" location. The whole setup raises the rear deck about 3.5 inches & with the carpet on you can barely tell it's there. I run an Alpine deck which powers the door speakers (infinity) & controls my Ipod which is about all I listen to though the deck has a CD & can control satellite as well. Good luck & email if you have any Q's.
