Many Door Problems
Hey Guys,
Got some problems with my 928 doors.
First and most important is my exterior handle. Turns out the bracket that releases the door catch broke. So I have to lift the handle a certain way or open the door from the inside. I got the part from 928 International and took the door panel to replace the part. I did this years ago on my driverside door, but the passenger door is giving me difficulties. Turns out I have to remove the lock motor to get to the broken part, and the nuts are rounded behind the thin sheet metal. Is there anyone that knows another way to do this procedure. I really do not want to get the metal nibblers into the door an ruin the originality of the car.
Secondly, The driver door has been giving me trouble. Not so much the mechanics of the door but the door stop guide. See every time the guide hits a new stop notch the door gives off a horrible clicking sound. I found that it is the two bolts where the guide is attached to the car. I tighened the two allen bolts but the door still moves the piece. I need advice on how to fix that problem as well. I think I might need to remove the front left fender to fix the bracket but am not entirely sure.
Finally and least complicated I need to replace my window motor. It froze on me. That is not the problem though. I know how to do that task. But since I am doing the window motor I am going to replace the Window Guides. Is this a process that involves removing the glass and is it a difficult procedure?
Please help an embaressed Porsche owner.
Thanks

Ok,
Got the Window rattle to fix. Which I saw at http://www.nichols.nu/cat06.htm. All I need to fix now is the persistant clicking sound when the door closes and opens (See above description). And the rounded nuts on the lock mechanism to replace the handle hinge that is broken in the door. Those are the only other things I am going to need a little of help with.
Thanks

On the door handle thing:
Door Handle Repair
I did this job last fall. If this is what your problem is, it isn't a fun job. Trying to work blind with your hands squeezed inside the door is just plain hard.
The sheet metal you're seeing is a theft protection plate. The link I've listed describes how to remove it. I didn't bother putting it back in.....you don't hear about these cars getting stolen much any more.
Good luck.

Mike,
Greetings from a fellow Pennsylvanian stranded in Texas.
Being from Pennsylvania...I was ever so glad to hear that you guy's are breeding the Angus stock artifically. The other way, just puts ugly pictures in my head and I think it's against the law in all but a few states.

Where is the Woodbridge Farm operation located?

Wait till you hear those door's squeak!
