Post A well balanced car

Something that the other lines of Porsche are missing, is the control of a balanced chassis. This weekend I was able to get my car up on 4 scales during our SCCA tech inspection. Everyone was talking about how well balanced the Miata was. Then when they saw what the 928 came in at, the stories all changed. Here is what we found on my car with a 1/2 tank of gas.

Total Weight: 3449 lb
LF: 907 RF: 891
LR: 813 RR: 838
Left side: 1720lb 49.9%
Right side: 1930lb 50.1%
Front: 1798lb 52.1%
Rear: 1651lb 47.9%
Cross weight LF/RR: 1745lb 50.6%

Has anyone made modifications and then checked the weight of their car?

Very cool info! I wish i had acces to something like that around here. My only scales are the ones at the local landscaping center. Pretty darn accurate though!

Here's my '89GT with 1/2 tank of gas after new stereo with full Dynamat treatment --&gt;

Total Weight: 3579 lb
LF: 958 RF: 962
LR: 829 RR: 830
Left side: 1787lb (49.93%)
Right side: 1792lb (50.07%)
Front: 1920lb (53.64%)
Rear: 1659lb (46.35%)
Cross weight LF/RR: 1788lb (49.96%)

That new head unit must weigh a lot more than the stock Blaupunkt! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

You're checking corner weights with the driver or equivalent ballast in the driver's seat, rrright?

Ell,

In the near future I have the ability to borrow a four pad digital scale setup. The console for the pads have all four scales at the display panel. Let me know, maybe some weekend we can go thru a few sharks when you get back from SITM.

After talking with Capt. Earl for a few this weekend, maybe we can also do a few alignments on a couple sharks.

Curt,
I checked my car with the driver seat empty. If I were going to adjust the suspension just for racing I would have been in the seat. But for comparison data, different drivers different weight.

John,
We used a 4 pad digital scale. My neighbor is holding on to the set for a couple of weeks. A Shark cookout and scales could make for a good day.
