The 1990-95 928's have an auto open on the sunroofs, also on the windows. You can hold down the switch for about a second and it opens the rest of the way is self.
Here's where a few of us are having a problem. I hold down the roof switch, then let go, the roof opens, then the motor keeps running after it's open. I stop it by pushing either open or close again.
I have a new switch ordered and I'll install it this week. I hope that's it, but it doesn't look like the switch is sticking.
I just wanted to ask and see if anyone else has had and fixed this problem.
Thanks
Larry M

Larry,
I've got the same problem. Its actually the only thing on my car thats broke. I inquired a while back and nobody seemed to have an answer. How does the computer know when the sunroof is open (or windows)? There is either a switch when it is fully open or are there potentiometers (sp?) like the seat memory? The manuals don't cover it. When you find the answer please pass it along.

randy,
per the wire disgrams there's no open or close limit switch, so the only way the brain would know it's full open is load on the motor. are you guys sure it's actually supposed to have this function and it's not just sticky switches?

David,
Yea its supposed to work this way. When you get in and start the car, you can just hit the 2 window buttons and the roof button and they all take turns opening fully. When you get out you can hold the door key in the locked position and they all take turns closing.
But, just like Larry, when my sunroof opens the motor keeps running until you hit the button which will shut it off. For me it worked one day and the next it didn't - there was no intermittant problem like a switch starting to fail. There's definitely a bigger load on the motor but it doesn't shut off on its own. Windows work fine.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I couldn't find a switch on the wiring harness either. I suspected a load on the roof motor might be how it tells. Now, there must or might be a clutch like device on the end of that motor. If it's worn or loose, that's where our problem could be. What makes me say this was I had the cover off, watching it work and when it kept going I grabbed the axle with leather gloves and it stopped. At the time I wasn't into more hours in the car so I settled for hitting the button twice. I also wanted to ask a few others before I started on it again.
As for my switches, they were a little scratched anyway.
Thanks

Larry,
You said the motor stopped when you grabbed the axle. Does the axle keep spinning even after the sunroof is fully open? If so then maybe whatever its hooked to is the problem - its letting the axle turn when it should be holding it tight? I need to take a look at mine and see how it works.

Randy,
Yes,, When I looked at mine the axle was still turning. That's where the motor noise was comming from. Now I need to look for a detailed sunroof motor picture.
