Default 928 forum views

Has anyone else than me ever checked out the number of people that view the 928 forum compared to the other rennlist forums? It seams to me that 928 owners are a very dedicated bunch when you consider the total volume of cars put out compared to say a 911 or 914.I feel that we have a secret that the rest of the automotive world doesnt know about. Its very cool and if I was to try to explain it to a 911 owner I would compare it to the taste of chocolate. You cant understand unless you have experienced it so I wount even try...

Yeah, 928s are chocolate, and 911s are liccorice.

If you go over to Pelican, You will find the opposite ratio of postings to Rennlist. Except that they have over a million and a quarter posts on the 911 board.

I guess that some people don't like liccorice, but the ones that do like it a lot ...

928's are dare I say...exotic when compared to a 911. They offer performance, comfort and they're very unique. They also seem to grow on people very quickly.

YES tomboyea123 ! I`ve also been studying several other forums around the globe, and it seems that the "Front Engine" folks are much more active at both posting, and working on their cars. I hope this doesn`t mean there is more that goes wrong with them

That reminds me of a cool Idea for a t-shirt.

I saw a VW t-shirt some years ago with a bunch of different VW symbols and the words " It's not a car, It's a cult" beneath.

Might be a cool idea for a Porsche or 928 related t-shirt.

I saw a post the other day from a fellow 928'er saying that he was going to sell his 928 and buy a Boxster, if I remember correctly. After driving the Boxster, he likened the 928 to a school bus. He wasn't being disrespectful I don't think, but was just using the example to show how much more he preferred the handling of the Boxster. It occurred to me that while I've had two 928's I've never driven any other porsche. How would you guys who have driven 911's or other P-cars compare those to the 928?

Night and day, depending on what you want.

Ed Hughes has the best perspective on both since he races a 911 and has had his 928 at the track also. What I found amusing on the last track excursion with his 928, he was out running a 997 S and really impressed the Carrera owner, not saying the 997 wouldn't walk all over the 928 with equal drivers, but it was impressive. I hope he chimes in here on this thread.

I've driven several 911's from the past era and a 996 with a tweaked suspension. It's what you would expect from a 911. Very responsive to any imput you give it. Feels tighter but (don't take this the wrong way) cheaper and less solid. The 928 is not sluggish by any means, but has a heavier feel. But it was also built to be that way. It's more plush, user friendly, comfortable and not demanding on the driver unless he wants ito put it through the paces that few of done.

Until I had seen a 928 in person, I had always wanted a 78-80 SC targa, once I saw the 928, it's what I've always wanted, so I am biased.

I think each group of owners has a dedicated "Home" somewhere, 928 owners have settled on Rennlist.

Explained this once before.

Us 928 owners are looser car nerds with no life and nothing better to do in between wrench turns than surf the internet for ****. When we have finished every **** site the internet has to offer, we switch to Rennlist.

911 owners are too busy to surf here, as they are either out in their licensed "penismobiles" cruising for putang in local bars, buying new gold chains or getting their chest hair waxed. They are simply too cool to post on rennlist except for the occasional "Which rims will get the most action from the hotties" post.
