Default $10,000 to spend on a 928

Just out of curiosity if you had $10,000 to spend on a stock 928 what would you buy?

I would get a nice 84 auto, then have plenty left to fix any problems!

I'd just dump it in mine--

Motor mounts
Shocks
Touchup paint
New Champagne interior
quiet tires

Another 928. 10K will get you a nice '86.

Depends on what your car needs. My GTS nothing....my '86.5 quite a bit. I'd replace the front seat leather and get her repainted for 10k. Maybe some new carpet too. Get that new car smell again!

I'd do the intake manifold service and buy an X-pipe and create a 2.5" dual exhaust all the way back with highflow cats and a Flowmaster Super 44 exhaust to make that sucker LOUD as hell. Than, I'd buy a set of 18" 993 Turbo Twists

Get it to Factory running spec from wherever the car is at and go from there.

So many folks have added this, that and the other without doing the basics.

The basics on a 928 are much.

perhaps I don't get the question. Do you mean if you had a stock 928 what would you spend $10,000 on, or do you mean if you had $10,000 what kind of stock 928 would you buy?

Take 1/2 that and make the one you have a pristine example of a 928.

What's the story on the one you currently are fixing?

Oh, then I would put a rebuilt transaxle in mine, (just cause I don't like the way it feels) and a blower.

You are late to the game!

I have at least $14K in my OB (of 192K miles) and it still needs paint!
However it is just about mechanically bullet proof and will hang with a lot of younger 928's.

Here is what happened to my car since I bought it starting from the begging.
1. got home from deployment wanting a 928 the entire time I was on it, found one on eBay
2 looked at it online seemed really good body condition, bought it
3 on the way back from driving it home "around 100 mile drive" three lights went on , "!, belt tension, and abs brake"
4. drove it around to a motor cycle shop to drop a friend off, car kept dieing at idle. "bad isv"
5. took off intake manifold, lost in the sauce cleaned the isv, put back the intake manifold, problem worsened
6. bought a new isv and intake manifold gaskets then reinstalled it, car was running.
7. decided i would get rid of tension warning light so i followed instructions on the paper that came with the tension tool and then things got worse. I forgot to plug a bottome wire for the distrubutor. forgot to reconnect oil line. car had problems starting, vibrated a large amount and covered the parking lot with oil
8. reconnected both, changed oil, car starts here a noise in the intake manifold. wtf
9 took off intake manifold replaced the side cover gaskets, the throttle body gaskets, the fuel injector seals, removed the paint. did not find anything that I thought would be bouncing around, re installed intake manifold car wont start.
10. took to a mechanic yesterday still their.
