Post HELP with intake vacuum lines

I'm in the process of installing my intake after powder coating. I've got myself thoroughly confused as far as the vacuum lines are concerned.
There are two fittings on the top of the throttle body.

<a href="http://web2.airmail.net/newfie1/Cameras/ThrottleBody.jpg" target="_blank">http://web2.airmail.net/newfie1/Cameras/ThrottleBody.jpg</a>

One goes to the rear to the multi-connector and the other goes to the front by a very long line, but where??????
There's one from the flappy that goes to the front left of the engine and there's one on the bottom of the throttle body that I can't figure out.
I've got it connected to (I think) a diverter valve on the right side of the engine but I'm not sure that's correct. HELLLLP!

Ernst, the link is bad.
On the '86 car, the two front ones are for the "Diverter Valve" of the AIR system. The starboard one if Califorina spec. and the port one for ROW spec. The unused one is blanked with a rubber cap. On the back, one (the port one) goes to the multi-connector, and the other goes to a little heat-sensor-valve dealie that's toward the back of the valley, on the starboard side, and sunk into the water-jacket, there. Mine has two nipples on it, and they have little red rings on the nipples...... (don't ask, I'm no dermatologist!!) The outlet then goes to the valve that controls the carbon-canister.

I know your car is a better model, but I'd guess it sucks like mine!! <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" />

Hi Brian,
Mine sucks more than yours, nyah nyah nyah.
The link should work now. From your description I think we have different set-ups. If one of mine is not supposed to be connected I'm standing here with a 2 foot vacuum hose with BOTH sides missing.

The problem is that once the intake is bolted in it's impossible to reach the vacuum connections, never mind photograph them.
Nicole,
Any ideas?

Ernest,

I will address the two vacuum line fittings in the picture you posted. You are correct that one goes to the four-way connector in the rear of the engine compartment, the other (long hard plastic vacuum line goes to the passanger side of the engine compartment near the rear, under and between the wind screen washer fluid and the radiator coolant reservoirs - a vacuum pod on a group of large air hoses.

Now, the one located on the bottom of the unit you posted wraps around the back of the passenger side valve cover and connects to the top of the vacuum pod which is part of the group of hoses that connects to the bottom of the air filter box.

The vacuum line fitting located under the air intake (flappy valve actuator) connects to the switch in the front of the engine bay near the fuel damper.

Ernest, where did you have your intake and vlave covers powder coated? I have a few questions for you if you can tell me how to contact you off line.

cheers

Ernie-
Of the two small vacuum lines from the throttle body - Yes, one goes to the multi-connector and the other one goes to the diaphragm valve associated with the charcoal cannister. See page 20-17 of the manual (item 7) or page 24-216 (item F). Hope this helps.

email me at newfie1@airmail.net or call me at 817-265-9262. I had my intake and cam covers powder coated at Cross Link in Dallas. It cost $125.00.
