Post '80 928 Engine Swap

Does anyone know if it is practical to replace my 1980 928 engine with a 1987 engine? I am in a position to pick up the newer engine at a real reasonable price. Am assuming that it will fit, but don't know all of the other ramifications or the swap.

I don't know all the details, but one thing to consider is the computers have to be changed and so also the wiring harness. Probably a PITA, but I would consider it. That's why I bought an 85, s4 motor with the older look.

Henry,
I did it from 1980 (M28.12) to 1984 (M28.22), but I did a complete rebuilding
If you today have M28.13 or -14 and want to change to M28.43 or -44 you certainly also need the engine controlling system, wiring, gasoline supply etc.ect.
Better to ask a local expert before you buy anything.
If you buy, I think better to buy a donor car (find a good car with a minor traffic accident) and you have every thing --- and a lot of work to do!
Good luck!
