Brought my car to work finally.
I finally worked up the nerve to jump into the DFW traffic frey with my car this morning. I drive in on 183 from N. Richland Hills all the way to Walnut Hill off I-35 East. I'm basically driving from Ft Worth to Dallas. I left way early from my house, but traffic still sucked in the usual places but opened up nicely the rest of the way. Felt good (and safe) being in the car. I couldn't believe the stir I caused as people started to arrive after me. My presence was requested outside and I have been showing off the car since. I had to repeat myself at least three times that the car was indeed an 87. You'd think I pulled up in a

I love driving to work in mine. Sometimes the best part of my day. I suppose someone's gonna have to wipe the sh*t- eating grin off your face this morning.

My funniest @ work moment: some guys were out in the parking lot checking it out as I approach , they start razzin me- you know- " Must be nice to be making the big- bucks" -bull**** like that. One asks if it's new, I said no- guess the year He says- "Oh... a 2004?" the other guy chimes right in to "correct" him, and says "No -it's older than that - I'd say a 2000. I just smiled and said " you're a couple years off, as I slid in ,fired it up ,revved it a time or two, slipped it into 1st and Lit it up with a little fish -tail out of the parking lot.

Our oldest son is in 8th grade now and will likely be heading to Loyola Academy (where I work) for high school. Our family has started to talk about moving so as to shorten the (60 mile roundtrip) commute. While I'm for that, I have thought more than once Aw, there goes my shark time!

Everyone at work was surprised the first time I brought my shark in. The president made the "I don't even have one yet" and I just smiled.
Enjoy the drive home!

Awesome! I remember watching Star Blazers as a kid. My other favorite was G-Force Battle of the Planets. As I recall, both of them were aired on a Dallas TV station that was carried by my cable company in NE Oklahoma.
To stay on topic- I had owned my current GT for nearly a year before my co-workers ever got a glimpse of it. Once unveiled, it created quite a buzz for a 17 year old car. I've never owned a car that gets as many compliments and comments.

It is interesting that people will make a comment about money if someone shows up in a porsche, even though they just bought a brand new SUV that cost $40K. In 5 years their car will have depreciated by about half. I don't think mine could depreciate any further than what I paid for it. And since I am doing my own maintanence, the amount I am spending on parts and upkeep is less than what others are spending on interest on their new car loans.
Who would have thought that owning a Porsche 928 could be so fiscally responsible?

Soon after purchase, with the car at work, several of my coworkers were riding down the elevator with me to the parking levels to go home. Walking out the doors from the elevator, one of them lights up, and tells me that "there's the car you need, Bob!". If I had that car, he said, I'd have my choice of all the women in the world. We stopped and looked inside through the glass while he continued. Women in the group rolled their eyes. After a bit we proceeded past it. I then turned back around and started back towards it, and asked if they'd like to look under the hood. The look was priceless. (Engineers always want to look under the hood...)
