At the risk of having multiple open questions to the list, I have to ask this one:
I feel like an idiot; I purchased replacement "rubber hood stops" from 928Intl. The ones on the interior of my hood (inside, towards the front of the car on either side...) are decaying and since I was ordering new hood shocks, i figured the extra couple bucks would be a fair investment. Well, i got the new ones and now I'm afraid to get the old ones out. Do I just yank? How do these things work? It looks like if there are parts that get stuck inside, they'll float in the hood for eternity. I can't find instructions through searching, so thought I'd ask. Again, this is an '87 928 S4, but I'm guessing this particular part would work similarly on many models. Thoughts?

Thanks. I saw the threads on the new ones, but couldn't tell on the old ones as they were too far decayed. Turns out they were still solid enough that twisting worked. New stops installed. Thank you for helping with my fears.
