What would the symptoms of old fuel be?
I changed all components of the fuel system on the old '82 euro 928 and even though it is running much better now, it still has no power.
I haven't drained the old fuel yet, since I don't know what to do with 15 gallons of old fuel.
I figured I may just be able to run it through. Will it harm anything at this point to just try to run the tank empty?
The stuff in there may be 3 or 5 years old...

Get rid of that fuel. Without Stabil, fuel goes bad in months, not years. Does it have a strange smell to the exhaust? When fuel turns to varnish it has a different smell than fresh gasoline.
Replace the fuel and run a bottle of Techroline or Seafoam through the system.

It won't vaporize very well. It won't want to idle, it'll misfire & bog. If it continues to run it'll ruin the spark plugs in short order. Trust me. Don't use it.

do not run it through the engine, regardless of what injection system you have.
with CIS, the results would be totally bad. Your K-jet will need some serious rebuilding---if it doesn't already.
with Ljet, it doesn't get any easier.
drain, store, use it for cleaning parts (that's a stretch), recycle, or just plain get rid of it.......

I had some old gas once and I was able to take to the City yard where I live. They accept stuff that is not good for the landfill. Call your city offices and ask them if they will dispose of it for you. Only cost me a couple of gas cans to haul it to them in.

Most of the ones around here state a maximum gasoline content. I foget exactly what it is, but it's under 10%. If you know anybody with oil heat, just dump the 15 gallons in their big tank right before their next fill up. I know a few people who have heated their shops all winter with ATF, motor oil, gear oil, and old gas.

Do not run it through the engine. As others have stated this is not good stuff. Old fuel has acids, oxides, varnish, etc. that are all bad things for fuel system components.
You should be able to find a place that takes in old fuel unless you are in an area where open buring is still common. If you do burn it be very careful because the stuff still burns fast and very hot.

OK, the old fuel is out. 17 gallons.
I figured I'll just run it through one of my generators.
I put in 4 gallon of brand new supreme93 octane.
What should I add now and how much of it? Barryman's B12? It still does not run perfect, so I guess the injectors are partially clogged. What would be the most aggressive stuff to get the whole system cleaned up? Chevron Techron? Yamaha ring free?
I cleaned whatever I could get to, new pump, new filter, cleaned screens and WUR.

Sab,
There is obviously some lacquering in the system. Take it easy for a while and use the maximum amount of fuel system cleaner. I like Techron or Gumout but there are other good ones out there.
