Default Help Identifying a Part?

I know this part is completely unimportant, so I hope you guys enjoy this game and I'm not using up my opportunities for help on trim, but below are two pics of 1 part.

My car is a 1987 928S4, 5-speed manual. The piece was in the car when I got it, but I can not find any piece anywhere that looks like it. I put up a quarter next to the piece so you can judge size. There is no long part number, just an "L2" on the back. Any idea what this piece is and where it goes?

Sorry 'bout that. If you click on the images, they show up at a normal size. Not sure how this happened. Should I repost the images instead?

I recognize that as the cover for the seat belt retractor from a 1949 Hudson.

Sort of. Just my smart *** way of saying, I don't think it's from a 928. I'm far from an expert so hang in there for daylight returns.

I don't think it's a 928 part either. There is a very similar piece in the dash of my daughter's Mazda.

Colin. 89GT.

Ahh. well that would make me feel better. I searched high and low, stuck my head and hand in places it has never been and really just couldn't find anything like it on the car. IF it isn't from the car, that would make me feel much better. Thanks.

I believe that piece is one of two that goes on either side of the steering wheel horn pad on the sides on the wheel, one on the right and one on the left.

Shaynes is right, it is for the horn pad of the 4 spoke steering wheel.
