automatic transmission
I recently replaced the rear drive flange on my 1980 automatic. No skint knuckles and very little cussin. However the transmission goes in gear but does not shift out of first. Did I miss a vacumm line or something somewhere. Anyone who has ever done this procedure before fill me in on the problem.Thanks. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
On the 928, the vacuum modulator has virtually no effect on the shift speed - it only affects the shift quality.
My first guess is that somehow the T.V. cable from the throttle quadrant on the front of the engine to the transmission has gotten screwed up - perhaps pulled part-way out at the transmission end?
Disconnect it at the throttle quadrant and see if it still works, or if it is pulled out. It should be adjusted so that it just slips on the ball with no tension.
If that isn't it, the governor may be stuck.
