Post Power Steering Question

When I first start my 85 S, the steering is great and quiet. However, after about a mile or so, it moans with every turn. This seems to happen only when it's cold outside. I know that I have a power steering leak, but inspection of the boots revealed only slight moisture inside the boots. Instead, the leak appears to be coming from above the alternator ventilation hose (which is soaked in the fluid).
My question: Do you think that I need to budget for a new steering rack or is it likely that a new hose might be in order (or both)?

Thanks for any responses!

(PS I may have asked this question here before, but I'm not sure I got a clear-cut response).

I think you got good responses last time Dave.

Try using the 'search' function (in the upper right of this screen).

Search on the word: steering

Will take a few minutes for the search engine to chew through the archives.
