Default DE Nov 10th at Thunderhill!!!!

http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/

Trackmasters is having a two day event for Nov 9-10 (Friday-Saturday) at Thunderhill......only 3 run groups per day so there will be ALOT of track time...you can go for both days or only one day.....I'll be there on Saturday!! I'm hoping to get some more 928's to show up.......we might even have a special 928 instructor??? The weather looks GREAT.....partly sunny with lows of about 50 and highs not over 70....perfect trackday weather!! All run groups still have plenty of space ESPECIALLY novices (like me).....

I just signed up....who else is in????????

Hi Brian.. wish I could go and wring out the car. I need to install a pump to move blow-by oil from the expansion tank back into the sump before I run WOT. I fill the expansion tank after about 30 minutes on the track.

Have fun!! Joe

Hey Brian - I'd like to go, but not sure if my 5sp is quite up to snuff - I need a new steering rack from what I can see. Also, what are the DE requirements for a newbie? I've never tracked at all, no helmet, etc. Maybe I should just show up and watch if I don't have to be in LA Friday. When are you planning on going on Friday?

Do you drive to the track or tow? I've got a trailer i've used for my 928's you are more than welcome to if needed.

Bill, now that you are back on the left coast, you need to update your location under your avatar.

T-hill is a bit over an hour north of Sac, so we usually drive up early in the morning of the event. If you really want to do a track day, and need help getting the car ready, just let me know. I also have a couple helmets, so you can borrow one if it fits. Otherwise, there are helmet rentals at the track. I can't make this event, but will try to make one sooner rather than later. As a newbie, you will be in the beginner group with an instructor riding with you. Very low key, no pressure from faster, more experienced drivers and cars (they will be in the other run groups). With a 5-spd, you can just leave it in 3rd gear and not worry about shifting. Showing up as a spectator is also good, you can get a feel for how things go. Some organizers allow you to ride along as a passenger, usually with the instructors. Always fun to be had.

Feel free to contact me if you need help with a steering rack, I recently change one out as well.

Like Rich said its a pretty low key event.....with a 2.20 5 speed you can just leave it in third the whole time & it really doesn't slow you down much.....since you don't have to worry about shifting you can concentrate more on your lines and braking zones.....they put an instructor in the car with you, which helps IMMENSELY...especially if the instructor knows 928's (Dennis is a great example)....Dennis has instructed for Rich-Charley-Me and helped alot with my driving!

I won't be there on Friday, but will be there on Saturday......I plan on parking under the large shade awning so stop on by if your in the area....

There will be plenty of DE's at thunderhill...... so if your 928 isn't ready for this one, there is always another coming.....I do like thunderhill as a great rookie track...hardly any walls to hit if you go off the track!!

I hope to attend a few more DE's next year...maybe 4 or so.....
