Default Intermitant door locks

My door lock button, on the dash, is working every once in a while. I am pretty sure it is not dirty. I was wondering if there is a sensor in the ignition switch maybe? Sometimes I can start her up, hit the button, & they lock. Sometimes they wont lock & after 15 minutes they WILL lock. Sometimes I get nothing at all the whole trip. Strange!

Grazie!!

I've seen this problem on the older cars posted before but can't recall the fix?

Anyone?

not sure if your car has the vacuum or electric lock, I think they are the electric ones though, in which case it is probably a broken wire on the backside of that little panel so remove and resolder the wires on.

I broken wire sounds like a good place to start. My locks are electric. Are there any sensors? I know with the door open, the doors cannot be locked & the hatch is not allowed to open under certain circumstances.

I appreciate the help! Thanks!!

There shouldnt be any sensors which prevent operation of this system.

what you will need to do is remove the trim from around the HVAC controls and you will see 2 screws (one on either side) of the piece with the locking button on it. Remove this piece and you should see the problem right away. if you dont pull the board off the back (will be a couple screws) and inspect it for broken pieces. however I suspect that one of the wires on the back will be only on there by 1 strand or not at all. with just randomly rubbing the right spot and allowing it to work.
