Post ABS warning light

Since repairs to torque tube on my '89 s-4,automatic, during which the rear end was out of the car for 10 days, the ABS malfunction light comes on every time the car is started and every 30 minutes while driving. The relay on main board under glove box has been replaced, didn't help.Anyone have any suggestions?

Since the rear suspension was removed, I would suspect that one of the rear wheel speed sensors may not be in the circuit.

The pickup is located on the back side of the rear wheel - and is connected to the wheel hub using a 4mm hex head screw. I would check both sides - and ensure that the contact points are clean. In order to check them - you will need to jack up the rear - remove the tire - and locate the sensors (they are mounted directly to the rear hubs at about the 11 o'clock positions - just forward of the center line of the axles).

I would second that. When my torque tube bearings were fixed the transmission had to be dropped. when it was put back in one of the ABS sensor wires was trapped and damaged. This took ages to find and I did without ABS for 6 months - until the next time the trans got dropped so that we could get access.

Cheers
Dave
