Post Hard Starting....

I posted this same subject a month or so ago but did not get many replies. I need all the imput I can get from all you intellectual 928 owners.

My 79 euro 5spd starts up perfect in the morning or even if it has been parked for a week. After I park the car and come out say between an hour and 5 hours the car just turns over. It turns over fine but it just doesnt fire. If I pump the pedal it will fire up and run rough for a few seconds and then its fine. The car runs smooth all the time.

My initial thought is its the fuel accumulator. I thought that the fuel pressure was slowly leaking down and when i would come back to start it after a few hours, the pressure was lost and it had to build pressure back up to start. but why after sitting all night it starts up perfectly in the morning???? I would think that if the injectors were leaking into the head that I would get a backfire or something when trying to start. but i dont it just keeps turning over and over until I start pumping the gas pedal.

Also, I need to locate my 2nd fuel pump. I removed the gas tank and cleaned it over the weekend. I also put on a new fuel filter and cleaned the screen inside the tank.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, actually I think you got several very good replies Curt. Perhaps you will want to actually read the replies from folks after you pose a question - just a suggestion.

Do you want us to come over and do the repair also?

Well Randy V. I'll tell you what, you come over and work on it for me and then step aside cause I'll show you how to drive it.

Actually I did get several good replies, but I was hoping I would get a few more ideas. I will be taking care of this problem after the first of the year.

Later
Curt..
