Default Motorsports GT1 Dual disk clutch questions

Hello guys,

I have one of Carls Spec GT1 dual disc setups here, with the aluminum flywheel.

I also won (awhile ago) a refurbed intermediate plate off ebay which I am using and appears to be good.

I can assemble the entire thing if I do NOT use the starting ring gear, and it pulls down nicely.
However I cannot get the ring gear on after, and if I attach the ring gear before hand I have to use way to long of bolts to be able to get it the pressure plate to pull down at all, though it really seems too tight. the factory PP slides just inside the ring gear without any issues.

Has anyone run into this issue before?

Do I just use 6 longer bolts pull it all down and then replace the bolts one at a time? or should I be taking the ring gear to a machinist and having alittle removed from the center?

TIA

are there provisions for the pressure plate to have some kind of hold off wires inserted before the pressure is released? if so then you may have to fab some after you install the pressure plate then you may be able to use shorter bolts to secure the pressure plate

I have a block with a crank sitting here so I could test fit,
I may be putting the starter ring gear on the wrong side of the intermediate plate.

I will look later tonight, thanks guys.

Do you have shims under the studs on the pressure plate? There are three studs through the pressure plate and U-shaped shims under the heads hold it partially closed. Then the regular bolts will work.

I have assembled these clutches before (not GT1 but factory DD) and have never needed the shims to be able to get it together using the proper sized bolts.

Then you understand that using shims will allow you to use shorter bolts than the ones you are complaining about.
